Established in 1951, C.R.Atkinson & Sons Ltd offer almost 50 years experience to assembling timber staircases from our Newton Aycliffe factory and it's no surprise to find some of the leading home builders amongst our clients.
Our range includes Pine, Hemlock, Dark Hardwood (Sapele etc.), Beech, Ash and Oak, and to complement our assembly services we also have a dedicated refurbishment team for existing staircases.
In addition to the thousands of timber staircases per year supplied to home builders and made from the finest Richard Burbidge components, we also offer a bespoke service to the DIY customers and the general public.
We supply to standard or made to measure sizes, and our membership of the Federation of Master Builders is your guarantee of quality.
Meet the Atkinson Team
Duncan Atkinson (Managing Director)
In keeping with family tradition, Duncan (John's son) is a third generation Atkinson to join the family business. Fully time served - starting from the shop floor - Duncan knows the staircase business inside-out and is responsible for the introduction of IT technologies into the company.
Lynda Alderson (Company Secretary)
For many years Lynda was the friendly voice at the end of the 'phone. Now Company Secretary in charge of the administration, Lynda is responsible for "almost everything" and ensures the smooth operation of office routines and systems on a daily basis.
John Atkinson (Consultant)
Son of the founder, joined the family business in 1955. "Johnny" as he is known to colleagues, is in charge of purchasing and dealing with suppliers. He also offers a consultancy service to anyone who can benefit from his 45 years experience in staircase manufacture and fitting.
Clare Dobson (Office Administrator)
When you contact our company Clare will almost certainly be your first point of contact. Clare has been with the Company for several years and is responsible for the day to day running of the general office.
Michael Anderson (Site Estimator)
Michael is the person responsible for site measuring, quotations and making sure the job runs as smoothly as possible.
